There are two churches, the 17th century White Hart Inn, a primary school, post office and shop, and new village hall.

Bridestowe is located in one of the most scenic and beautiful parts of Devon, among the rolling hills that are typical of the county’s picturesque and welcoming character. Nearby Dartmoor provides an impressive contrast with its raw, granite moorland scenery. Even though the village enjoys a heart of the countryside location, the adjacent A30 provides quick access to the rest of the region and larger towns. Only 8 miles away, Okehampton is a lively, traditional market town and a popular base for visitors to Dartmoor from all over the world. It features a variety of pubs, cafes, restaurants, shops and visitor attractions as well as a Somerfield, Waitrose and cinema. There is a monthly Farmers Market and the railway line offers a Sunday service to Exeter.

Tavistock is just under 12 miles away and has a distinctive and beguiling character all of its own. Fashionable shops, fine food and recreational facilities are all available in abundance and there are some pretty walks nearby.

Further afield, but within easy reach is the north Devon coastline with its exceptional beaches and towns such as Bude, Padstow, Clovelly and Bideford.
